  Well groomed trails through moderate terrain with a couple of good sized hills. Private property but part of the Kawartha Land Trust.  Go north on Hwy. 35, 4.5 Km past Pontypool. Turn right (east) on Ballyduff Rd. and drive 2.3 Km. to Wild Turkey Rd. At intersection, enter private driveway on left thru wooden gateposts. Half way up driveway bear left and park near woodpile. Well socialized dogs on leash welcome.

   We will be looking for warblers in the Thickson Woods Land Trust.  This is a hot spot for migrating warblers.  We will walk along the road, trails and meadow.

  Directions:  take highway 401 westbound to Thickson Road, Whitby.  Head south on Thickson Road to the end.  You may either park in the parking lot at the end or along the road.  

  Meeting spot:  entrance to Thickson Woods is on your left east side of the road before the parking lot.

  Enjoy an easy walk on the 2.1 km Millenium Trail to enjoy the Lilac blooms and/or shop at the quaint downtown stores.

  Campbellford

  Visit the Giant Toonie.  This $2 coin stands at 27 ft. high and is 18 ft. in diameter.

  Visit Dooher’s Bakery.  The bakery sells out quickly so you may pre-order baked goods which will be set aside for you upon arrival.  Visit the website at https://doohers.com to find your items and provide your choices to Cathy via email at sprackca@gmail.com by May 17^th. 

  Lunch at Dockside Bistro (at your own expense).  Cost for lunch is $23.58 per person including taxes and gratuities which you pay directly to the restaurant.

  This is a modern and contemporary bistro serving gourmet food using the freshest ingredients and made from scratch. A fixed menu, including a vegan option, will be available for you to pre-select upon  registration.

  Visit the Locks at Ranney Falls.  Walk the Suspension Bridge and have a conversation with the Lock Master.  The trail is easy to navigate and offers a quiet, enjoyable experience with gorgeous views.

  Visit the World’s Finest Chocolate Outlet.  Their shelves are overflowing with a variety of delicious chocolate at factory outlet prices.

  Visit the Empire Cheese Co-operative.  They offer a huge variety of award-winning cheeses at very reasonable prices. 

  The Big Apple

  Famous for their delicious pies, as well as many other attractions, the Apple stands at 40 ft. tall and 38 ft. wide.

  Back by popular demand.  We will hike the meadow of Enniskillen Conservation area.  

  Location:  Enniskillen Conservation Area.  Main parking lot.  Note:  parking is $6.00 and only credit cards are accepted at the machines.

  Enniskillen is noted  for the nesting endangered Bobolink in the meadow.  The meadow also has Tree Swallows, Blue Birds and House Wrens in the nesting boxes.  In the past we also had good looks at  Indigo Bunting.  After the walk members may want to visit the Enniskillen General Store for ice cream.

  Interesting hike through hardwoods, cedar bush and along a boardwalk at the Pigeon River. Go north on Hwy. 35, 4.5 Km past Pontypool. Turn Left (west) on Ballyduff Rd. and drive 3.5 Km. then turn right (north) on Century Farm Road. Go 1.7 km then turn right on Grey Road (no sign) just before you cross the small river.(unimproved road has a lot of large shallow potholes but is quite passable) and drive .8 km. Turn left at Tee and follow laneway to parking lot.  Lunch at a local restaurant after hike for those interested.
